ABC Television has been home for Marvel on the small screen. So far they have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. Both shows serve as a great counterpart for the Marvel films. After most major Marvel films, there is a crossover episode which deals with the aftermath of the events of the film. Such films they have incorporated have been Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and most recently Captain America: Civil War. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been a hit since it premiered. This gave Marvel some leeway to branch out and in other areas. The next show they decided to tackle was Agent Carter. This show centered on Agent Peggy Carter of the SSR (before S.H.I.E.L.D.). The show has been great for Easter Eggs for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With both shows having some critical success, this gave Marvel the opportunity to branch out even further. Marvel had planned for a spinoff show from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. focusing on ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter as they go on their own adventures titled Marvel’s Most Wanted. Marvel also has a yet unnamed pilot as well.
But the best-laid plans don’t always go as planned. ABC just announced that they are cancelling Agent Carter and now Most Wanted is not moving beyond the pilot ordered. Season 2 of Agent Carter did not have the high ratings that the first season had and as a result, the show was cancelled. Actress Hayley Atwell has appeared not only on the show Agent Carter, but a few episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as the Captain America films. She has essentially been the glue for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There has been no word on the third untitled Marvel television project for ABC as of yet.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for a fourth season.
