Word is making the Internet rounds that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) is in talks to join director Ryan Coogler‘s (Creed) Black Panther movie. Marvel introduced T’Challa played by Chadwick Boseman (42, Get On Up), as the Black Panther in the hugely successful Russo brothers movie Captain America: Civil War.
Nyong’o is thought to be up for the love interest of T’Challa, the newly crowned king of Wakanda. Production should start in early 2017 and the movie is scheduled to hit theater screens February 2nd, 2018.
We got a glimpse into the world of T’Challa when Black Widow tried to talk with him and was threatened to: “Move. Or you will be moved.” by one of Black Panther’s Dora Milaje, the all female security force charged with protecting the royal family. Played by Florence Kasumba, the scene between the chief of the Dora Milaje and the Black Widow was one that stood out to many.
One of the Dora Milaje warriors was going to appear in a dream sequence in Avengers: Age of Ultron, even making it into one of the trailers for the film, but that scene was eventually removed from the final cut.
Could Nyong’o be playing T’Challa’s love interest and be a member of the Dora Milaje? We’ll let you know as soon as we find out.
