Those who grew up with the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series and films have an expectation that the franchise be action packed as well as funny. The 2014 reboot had a lot of weight placed on its shoulders. There was a massive fan base of people young and old, not wanting their favorite scaly heroes to be a let down. It’s safe to say that the film did not disappoint! So when the sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, was given the green light fans expected a lot from it. There have been snippets of the sequel released through various trailers and everyone assumed they’d been given their fill and had to wait for the film’s release. (Check out the previous “final” trailer here.) Well, there has been another trailer released and it seems to fill the simple but effective criteria that fans know and love. Plenty of madcap action and laughs to go with it…
If you thought the first film was fun, the sequel is going to be insane. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows sees the return of Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello take on the evil Shredder, just like the first film. The major difference here is that Shredder seems to be pulling in some favors from the cosmos, making him a threat to much more than the Turtles and New York City. The first film was a wonderful example of how ridiculous action sequences can be enjoyable for everyone and the sequel seems to up the ante. The fight scenes won’t just rely on the Turtles’ mastery of martial arts; tanks, heavily modified trucks and planes are just some of the tools and weapons at the characters’ disposal. Have a look at the trailer below.
All things considered, one of the most exciting prospects in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows is the character development. This was set up brilliantly in the first film, where each member of the team had a realistic and engaging personality. This is only further enhanced as the trailer reveals more dialogue for Bebop and Rocksteady (the pig and the rhino) who are typically known for being Shredder’s dim henchmen. Here’s to hoping that the film lives up to its predecessor and does the Ninja Turtles justice.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows sees the return of both Will Arnett and Megan Fox and is released in cinemas on May 30th.
