Sweet Christmas! We are only four months away from the debut of ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage‘ on Netflix and it feels like it can’t get here quick enough! Fortunately some new photos surfaced online taken from the ‘Luke Cage’ set. The images feature Mike Colter as Cage in an intense fight sequence, a new villain emerges, and a cameo from a character previously seen in a different Netflix/Marvel series.

As you can see in the 54 images below, notorious villain Willis “Diamondback” Stryker was recently confirmed. Erik LaRay Harvey (‘Boardwalk Empire’) will be portraying the sinister serpent. In the comics, Stryker and Cage were best friends in a gang together when they were younger called The Bloods who fought rival gang The Diablos and committed petty theft. This was the beginning of Luke’s early history of his criminal history. Though Cage decided to leave the gang and that lifestyle, Stryker stayed and honed his skills in knife-fighting and attempt to gain greater control of the streets. What ignited the rivalry between the two is their shared feelings for a woman, Reva Connors. It was Stryker’s theft of a couple kilos of heroin from fellow criminal Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes and his subsequent pinning the heist on Cage that sent Luke to prison Willis would ultimately become a part of the Serpent Society and a regular for for Luke. Also something significant to note is the Diamondback made his Marvel Comics first appearance in “Luke Cage, Hero for Hire#1, which happens to be the first appearance of Luke Cage as well.

Also seen in the set photos is Rosario Dawson, who is reprising her role as Claire Temple. The regular from ‘Marvel’s Daredevil‘ is only credited with appearing in the first of the thirteen panned episodes but it provides a nice link with a fellow Marvel property, same as Jessica Jones.

Take a look at the images and get a great look at what we can expect this fall when ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ premieres on Netflix September 30th.

Marvel’s Luke Cage stars Mike Colter as the titular hero (for hire), Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
