The season finale of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ had everyone buzzing for a couple of reasons. First, we finally saw the long-awaited appearance of Negan (portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Secondly, and what generated the most chatter, was its cliffhanger where fans were left to wonder just which character met their fate at the hands of this new bad guy, and his barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat Lucille. Time for Robert Kirkman to have some fun!
The show’s creator and writer, Kirkman visited ‘The Talking Dead‘ host Chris Hardwick on his Comedy Central series ‘@midnight‘ and was one of the guests asked by the host to come up a terrible cliffhanger ending from a TV series. Hardwick, being a huge Dead fan himself, assertively chose Kirkman’s series as his choice stating he wishes he had the answer. The TWD creator decided to have some fun at the expense of crazed fans who are dying to know what happened when the zombie-infested show went off the air and quickly responded to Hardwick with an “I know!” All in jest, Kirkman proclaimed:
“On the next exciting episode of ‘The Walking Dead,’ we find out how mad fans are when they find out Negan killed Carl in the Season 6 cliffhanger. People wanted to know. I’m not gonna make you wait all summer. I’m not an a**hole!“
Kirkman was certainly making fun at the hype. Carl is probably the least likely choice for Negan to have killed. The newest bad guy of the series tells the rest of the ‘saviors’ to cut out Carl’s eye if anyone interferes with the oncoming head bashing with Lucille. Another thing that should probably be pointed out is Kirkman has admitted that Carl is his favorite character on the series and could very well become the next leader of the surviving group after his father Rick.
The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season this October.
