Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… and mass hysteria is headed your way as the casts from the 1984 original and the 2016 reboot Ghostbusters will appear on stage together on Jimmy Kimmel Live to celebrate Ghostbusters Day on June 8th. “The Internet is gonna blow up, blow up real good,” as Big Jim McBob (Joe Flaherty) and Billy SOl Hurok (John Candy) would say on SCTV’s Farm Film Celebrity Blow–Up. It’s the 32nd anniversary of the release of the first film. Which cast members will be on stage when the two streams cross?
The original cast will include Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts, who will join the new cast members Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones on stage with Jimmy Kimmel. Director Paul Feig said:
Seeing the original and new Ghostbusters all together (will be) like being in the presence of the comedy gods on Mount Olympus. This is an epic summit of some of the funniest people on the planet. Long live the Ghostbusters!
The original Ghostbusters will be appearing in 800 theaters nationwide on the 8th with an encore showing the following Sunday on June 12th. Check your local theaters for tickets. The original cast members are expected to have cameos in the new film, Dan Aykryod‘s has already been released on television ads for the film.
It will be some interesting television to watch. Bill Murray is a ticking time-bomb and could say anything. He’s been back and forth on a third Ghostbusters movie saying he will or won’t do it unless the script is right. Will things go off track or will everyone stick to the Ghostbusters party line?
Tune in to find out!
