Ever since the announcement that Spider-Man was going to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and that scene-stealing role in Captain America: Civil War, fans are once again excited for Spider-Man to be back on the big screen. Sure, we’ve seen two iterations before, but the newest version has the faithful hopeful that it will be done right this time. In addition to bringing Tom Holland, and Merissa Tomei back, there have been other surprise cast announcements for the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film. With Robert Downey Jr. returning as Iron man/Tony Stark, Zendaya (mystery role), Tony Revolori (mystery role), and Michel Keaton (in negotiations for the villain role), we have yet another casting announcement for the upcoming film.
Heroic Hollywood has reported that there is yet another casting for the MCU reboot. Actor Michael Barbieri has just been cast in the film for a mystery role. At the current time, his character name is not known, but he is rumored to be playing one of Peter Parker/Spiderman’s friends in the film. Barbieri did an audition for the role of Peter Parker/Spiderman but lost the role to Tom Holland. His audition was so good that he was invited to be in the film in another role. Before this film, he was cast in the Sundance-premiered film Little Men. Michael Barbieri will also be appearing in the upcoming Dark Tower film starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. With roles in both Spider-Man: Homecoming and the Dark Tower film, he’s about to seriously blow up. Not bad for a kid in high school!
Spider-man: Homecoming will hit theaters July 7, 2017.
