There’s a new IMAX trailer out for The Legend of Tarzan directed by David Yates (Harry Potter 5/6/7/8 & Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them). This latest foray into the jungle legend that is Tarzan stars Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood) and Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad) as Tarzan and his lady-love Jane. It looks like we’re getting the whole Tarzan treatment in this fresh look at an old legend.
It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Well, that certainly looked entertaining and action packed. While Tarzan may start out in civilization, it looks like the majority of the film takes place in the jungle and explores Tarzan’s past and his King of the Jungle powers.
The film’s effects look incredible and life-like, you’d expect that from the studio that brought us the Planet of the Apes films. Even better, it doesn’t look like Yates is trying to rewrite the Tarzan legend as much as explore and rejuvenate it. Too many film makers try to change too much in their attempts to update some of our favorite legends. The Legend of Tarzan looks like it successfully walked that tight rope to bring us an entertaining action film.
