Telltale Games have risen in power over the last decade and it is easy to see why they are so popular. After the success of quirky point and click series Sam and Max, Telltale have acquired the rights to many sought-after franchises to add their own brand of comic book style, decision making gameplay to. Although the acquisition of the rights to Jurassic Park and Back To The Future thrust this unique style of game into the mainstream, it is the development of games around series like Game Of Thrones and The Walking Dead that has seen the biggest response from fans. The Walking Dead game alone sold one million copies in its first twenty days! Following these successes news broke that Telltale Games was producing a Batman game to add to its ever growing roster. There were very few details announced about the game as Telltale teased with a very short video (that you can see below.) Despite Telltale staying tight lipped over Batman – The Telltale Series, the window for its release has been narrowed!
Hopefully, there will be a few more details released about the game at E3 next week, as the game has recently been given a summer release date. Apart from the relatively vague date (although fans hope it is sooner rather than later in the summer) there is very little known about the game. As with every game in the Telltale Series, the decisions the player makes will have a massive impact on the world around them. Batman – The Telltale Series will not just focus on Bruce Wayne’s escapades as the Caped Crusader. This came straight from the horse’s mouth when Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner spoke to Kotaku:
“Our Batman series is looking fantastic. I think it might become one of the best things we’ve ever done. I can’t go into much detail, but the Batman team is amazing and they are really on top of it. It’s not like any other Batman game out there. This game really explores all aspects of Batman, not just the the “fighting in the suit” side of him. There’s a lot of subplots to explore and some really amazing choices that have a big impact on the story being told. I really think it might be the peak of the mountain for us so far.”
If this is anything to go by, Batman – The Telltale Series is worth getting excited about. We can expect many of the usual suspects in the game but if it is also focused on Bruce Wayne without the suit, expect bigger roles for characters like Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon. Only time will tell what is in store for players of Batman – The Telltale Series but expect it to be a huge release.
Nerdbastards will have coverage of many game announcements from E3 next week so check back with us for details on this game and many more.
