We haven’t heard much from the Battlestar Galactica movie camp since 2009 when the fantastic reboot television series ended, but just last month things started to gear up when producers Michael De Luca, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark joined the production. Now the production takes another step forward with the announcement that HBO‘s Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy has signed on to write the screen play. Additionally, word around the Internet Water-cooler has director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) interested in taking on the big screen version of Battlestar Galactica.
It’s still unclear which of the series the movie will draw from, most likely from both, mainly sticking to the Cylons versus Humans parts without a long origin of the Cylons or wrapping up at the end with the Galactica reaching Earth. Why not? Let’s have all the goofy stuff in there including the Triad uniforms:
A more playful and fun look at the series might be nice, the 2004-2009 reboot was so serious and grim. Could Richard Hatch come full circle and have a role in the new movie? He originally starred as Apollo in the 70’s, then as Tom Zarek in the 2004 reboot, is he the right choice for Adama in this new movie?
