For many Marvel fans, it was quite a disappointing summer due to the fact that Marvel wasn’t around for San Diego Comic Con. And while they did showcase their work at Disney’s D23 Expo, it just wasn’t the same. But that’s all going to change this year, hopefully, thanks to some vague tweets by Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy Part 2). Derrickson took to Twitter a couple of days ago and took a picture of a Doctor Strange advertisement for San Diego Comic Con. Soon after, Gunn replied that he would be close by and would have to visit the fellow director. Could this mark the return for Marvel at San Diego Comic Con? Possibly.

For reference, here is the tweet by Derrickson that has everyone excited.

And here is the reply by Gunn that’s really applying the pressure to this rumor.

While it may look pretty obvious, there is still no official word as to if the cast and crew of both films will be at the convention and in what capacity. For now, this is all fans have to go by. But when you take a picture of a blockbuster movie that you’re directing and ask the question if you’re going to be at a convention that the movie is advertising, it’s a solid sign that you’ll be there.

There are also speculations that Marvel may be planning something really big this year. Consider this, here is what Kevin Feige had to say regarding their absence from SDCC 2015:

“It was just timing. We had done that [media] event in October, when we announced so much. Everyone knows what we’re doing over the next few years. I really have a belief: If you can’t go to Comic-Con and overdeliver, then don’t go.”

Well there you have it. Either go big or go home, and it looks like Marvel may be going big.
