“I’m not here to brighten your miserable day. I am here to end your miserable life.”
Director Rob Zombie is bringing back some twisted and demented horror to the big screen. Zombie’s followers have been clamoring for the release of his film ‘31,’ his latest output sine 2014’s ‘The Zombie Horror Picture Show,’ and now we get a fantastic look at what the writer/director has in store come this September. The trailer for the film 31, which is being dubbed as “his most twisted film yet” certainly evokes the kind of imagery you would expect from Zombie.
In the trailer for the movie, which is set in 1975, we find five carnival co-workers are abducted and held hostage in a locale known as “Murderworld.” They are then forced to engage in a mysterious game known as 31, where they will encounter violent and psychopathic clowns for an entire twelve hours. Director Zombie explains, where the idea of the film came from:
“Well my next movie is a movie called 31, and the inspiration for this is, I had read this fact, I’m not even sure if the fact’s true, I don’t even care because it inspired the movie, but how many people disappear every October 31st, and I felt like, well, where do they all go or do they ever get found, and that was really what inspired the movie. It’s the journey of five people who are abducted on Halloween and the horrible things that happen to them in order to survive it.”
Synopsis for 31:
The day before Halloween, five carnival employees are kidnapped & held hostage in an isolated compound known as “Murderworld”. On Halloween, they are thrown into a sadistic game called “31” where they must survive 12 hours against a gang of maniacs dressed like clowns. However, the clowns aren’t the only ones they need to worry about – a grand scheme of satanic rituals & a much more sadistic plot awakens. It’s time to play 31.
There’s just one rule… survive.
The film, directed and written by Rob Zombie, stars Elizabeth Daily, Torsten Voges, and Malcolm McDowell. 31 will debut in theaters on September 16th.
