In what is being called one of the deadliest mass shooting in American history, a man opened fire on the people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people and injuring 53 more, before being killed in a stand off with police . This horrific attack on the LGBT community took the life of Luis Vielma, a staff member at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. His co-workers and park goers honored him with their wands.
J K Rowling herself grieved for him.

That day, his colleagues and the guests at the attraction paid a beautiful tribute to him, raising their wands and candles in his memory.
We are standing here tonight in front of Hogwarts Castle raising our wands to honour one of our fallen. We raised our wands to one of the bravest and best Gryffindors the world has ever known. Tonight we raise our wands to Luis Vielma.
The 22-year-old was described as “one of the kindest souls you will ever meet in your life”, and both staff and visitors to the park had nothing but wonderful things to say about him.
His loss, and the loss of so many other innocent people in such a hateful act of violence against LGBT+ people, has shaken the western world this week. If any comfort can be drawn from this, is it that people have refused to be dominated by hate and, in the wake of the pain, have stood ever firmer together against hatred and intolerance in all its forms.
