There’s a new trailer out in the UK for director Colm McCarthy‘s (Pinky Blinders season 2) adaptation of M.R. Carey‘s The Girl With All The Gifts that might help expand the zombie genre. The trailer does exactly what a trailer should do, tell us just enough to get us interested and leave the rest for the theater. If you’re tired of the same old zombie movies that we’ve all gotten a little frustrated with, The Girl With All The Gifts looks like the film that may bring back the zombie love.
Melanie is a very special girl. Dr. Caldwell calls her “our little genius.”
Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite, but they don’t laugh.
Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children’s cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she’ll do when she grows up. Melanie doesn’t know why this makes Miss Justineau look sad.
Sennia Nanua stars as the young girl Melanie with Glenn Close as the doctor searching for a cure or vaccine. That is Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) as the school teacher. If you haven’t read the book yet, you might want to check it out over at Amazon.
