Harry Potter Hoedown: Massachusetts Gets a Hogwarts School – And What’s This About Daniel Radcliffe Returning to The Franchise?
The Harry Potter books stopped in 2007, and after the films finished in 2011, it has been hard for some fans to continue to celebrate their love for the wizarding world. However, there are many exciting things happening in the wizarding world. There’s the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal Studio theme parks. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play now previewing. And of course, the highly anticipated Harry Potter spin-off film, Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them. The latter of which comes a bit of news to stir up fans, revealing more about the mysterious US based schools of Witch Craft and Wizardy. There’s also bit of commentary from Harry Potter star himself Daniel Radcliffe on his future with the franchise.
J.K. Rowling, author and creator of Harry Potter and the wizarding world has tried to hint at little back stories and other random facts throughout the time the franchise has stopped producing media. She posts them on her twitter account and even created the interactive website, entitled, Pottermore. Pottermore, as mentioned, is an interactive website that allows people to re-read the beloved stories over again, with little twists. Some examples of this, are that they get to see what wand they would have and even get to use the sorting hat and find out which house they belong to! So neat, right? The website has been around for almost 5 years now and its most recent activity is involving something even more exciting for the fans who are still holding on.
As of today, a new Fantastic Beasts featurette shines a light on Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, located on the highest peak of Mount Greylock in Massachusetts. The featurette is a broad look into the much fuller version of the story that J.K. Rowling released to Pottermore. You can read the full story right here.
All this exciting media will keep up the entertainment and interest until the new film debuts in November. The film will star Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and follow his travels to New York as he tries to document his discoveries of magical creatures.
It has also since been a wonder about the original series if any of the cast members would revisit the wizarding world again. In a recent interview at Radio Times (via Yahoo UK), Daniel Radcliffe was asked if he would ever come back and play Harry Potter again. Seeing as he’s moved on from the role of his childhood, and doing more adult work, this could come off as a very overdone question. Surprisingly he did answer with something that may actually keep fans hushed and satisfied for the time being.
His words were:
“It would depend on the script. The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo, and look what happened there! So, I am saying ‘no’ for now, but leaving room to backtrack for the future.”
