Although the movies get the lion’s share of the attention, Marvel’s series, specifically its Netflix series, also have a legion of fans anxious for any and all information concerning the next big thing. In just a few short months, Netflix will release the entire first season of Luke Cage, the third of five pre-planned series (now six with The Punisher) featuring Mike Colter as the so-called Hero for Hire who was first introduced last fall in Jessica Jones, and naturally, Marvel’s going to want to promote it this week at San Diego Comic Con. And voila! Marvel has released the image of an exclusive Luke Cage poster that fans will be able to pick-up later this week at the con.
Released through TVInsider, the exclusive print features a powerful image of Cage in shadow, with nothing more than the logos, the title and the release date for the show. To quote Marvel Universe creator Stan Lee “‘Nuff said.” The poster was created by Marvel Entertainment’s chief creative officer Joe Quesada, who started his career as a comic book artist, but still picks up a pencil from time to time. Check out the poster below.
“There’s always great pressure with superhero posters… You’ve got one shot to encapsulate a character with a pose that’s provocative and that you hope will someday be iconic,” said Quesada of his work. The poster will be available at the Marvel booth while supplies last at San Diego Comic Con. Also at Comic Con will be Luke Cage co-stars Colter and Alfrie Woodard, and showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker. On the subject of the series and its star, Quesada said, “Mike gives Luke a smoldering strength… He’s sexy and calming. And the ladies love it.”
Luke Cage rolls out in its entirety on September 30; Comic Con begins with preview night this Wednesday.
