If there is one thing Warner Bros/ DC does better than Marvel, its their animated universe. From Flashpoint, The Dark Knight Returns, Young Justice, and everything in between, they absolutely knock it out of the park. This is not to say Marvel isn’t any good but the sheer volume of quality animated movies and shows that DC puts out is way ahead of anything Marvel has been doing. DC also treats their animated projects with much more brevity than kid friendly stuff Marvel does on Disney XD. For every Spider-Man or Super Hero Squad, there is Justice League Doom or All Star Superman. Sufficed to say, fans are eager to know what’s next.
During their Comic-Con panel, they officially announced three animated films that are currently underway…
The first is Justice League Dark. Guillermo del Toro had been working on a live action version for some time, but it looks like they decided that animation was the way to go. This story will bring a team of supernatural heroes together to combat a magical and villainous threat. It was confirmed that John Constantine and Swamp Thing will both be in the film.
The second film they revealed is called Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, which is an adaptation of Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s acclaimed four-issue comic arc. In it, Young psychopath Tara Markov is seduced and trained by Deathstroke to infiltrate the Teen Titans and tear them apart from within.
The third and final project they announced is called Batman and Harley Quinn. This is a new and original story that comes from the mind of Bruce Timm, who co-created Harley Quinn with Paul Dini. There are no details on what the movie will entail, but it will be curious to see what these two will do now that their baby is back in their hands.
