Although Captain Marvel is still without a director, Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of The Galaxy), are currently working on the script for her solo film. Marvel has always planned to have an actress lined up in case of an earlier appearance in a film such as the anticipated Avengers: Infinity War Part I.
A while back it was reported, Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson (United States of Tara, Community, Trainwreck) was in negotiations for the lead role. Now, thanks to an unveiling at San Diego Comic Con, it is 100% confirmed that Brie Larson is the one and only Captain Marvel.

Who Is Captain Marvel?
Throughout the comics, there have been many different people to have the title: Captain Marvel. Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, stated that they are using Carol Danvers for the MCU. According to the comics, Danvers was a United States Air Force pilot, who then gets into an accident, which cause her DNA to fuse with the Kree alien race. She then gains superhuman abilities, ranging from super speed, strength, flight and more.
Casting for Mrs Marvel has been the subject of much fan speculation and wish fulfillment. With names like Katee Sackoff, Emily Blunt and Yvonne Strahovski being at the top of everyones list. But, now, it’s settled. Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!
