Growing up as a kid in the mid 90’s was a lot of fun. One of those big reasons was Legends of the Hidden Temple. In this game show for kids, the object was to complete physical challenges and prove yourself worthy enough to enter the temple. Once inside, you and your partner had to solve a series of puzzles and find the item of the day. It was a great show, and it still is. Now that nostalgia is coming back, and the game show is now a TV movie for Nickelodeon.
At the 90s nostalgia fest that took San Diego Comic Con via Nickelodeon, a trailer for The Legends of the Hidden Temple was released onto the world. And… and… it’s…. *sigh*. You’ll see.
Follow siblings Sadie, Noah, and Dudley as they try to escape the hidden temple and prove to everyone that the legend is real! Starring Isabela Moner and original host Kirk Fogg.
When 30 year olds who grew up with Legends heard of a potential live-action movie, everyone kind had this grown-up version painted in their heads (least this Nerd Bastards writer did anyway). This silliness was not expected.
If, however, you can transport yourself back to the mind of a 12 year old, this would be a fun TV family movie. The trailer has a few things going for it like: Kirk Fogg playing himself, Olmec, and a ton of references to the games featured on the show (Glad to see no one has figured out the Shrine of the Silver Monkey even after 20 years.).
