It feels like just yesterday that we brought you the 16 second teaser for the final chapter in Alice’s story, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and it was. Today the 49 second International teaser hit the Internet with a lot more footage to look at. The Resident Evil franchise is an interesting one. Starting in 2002, the franchise has consistently made money at the box office while never topping a Rotten Tomatoes score of 33 from the critics. Milla Jovovich returns again as Alice, kicking ass and taking names in the post T-Virus world.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is said to bring the franchise full circle with the return of many of the franchise characters from the prior movies. Let’s get right to it.
Many will be wondering how and why they are still making these Resident Evil films. It’s been four years since the last due to Jovovich’s pregnancy in 2014, plenty of time for fans to wonder off, but somehow even that long lapse between films will most likely work to Resident Evil’s advantage. Let’s look at the breakdown for each film’s world-wide Box Office compared to each film’s reported budget.
- Resident Evil $102,441,077 $35 million
- Resident Evil: Apocalypse $129,394,837 $45 million
- Resident Evil: Extinction $147,717,837 $45 million
- Resident Evil: Afterlife $296,221,667 $60 million
- Resident Evil: Retribution $240,159,257 $65 million
It’s easy to see that these film’s make money and each successive film has grown and taken in more and more. Can Resident Evil: The Final Chapter continue the trend and will this only lead to Resident Evil: A New Beginning?
