As if he hasn’t already been through a lot, it appears that the Scarlet Speedster is going to have his hands full once again. It’s been reported that two new villains have been cast for the third season of The CW’s The Flash. One has already gone toe to toe with Batman while the other looks to put a new spin on an old character.
Joey King will be joining the cast of The Flash as meta-human, Magenta. King had a previous brush with the DC Cinematic Universe when she played a young Talia al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises. Remember the young girl who climbed out of the prison pit? Yeah, that was her. In the comics, Magenta has the ability to manipulate metals by controlling and creating magnetic fields. She was also a love interest of Wally West, so it will be interesting to see how and if the show runners address a possible romance between the two.
Ashley Rickards has been tapped to play the supervillain, the Top in season three of The Flash. Best known for her work on Awkward, Rickards is stepping into the shoes of a character that was a male in the comics. The Top has the ability to spin at speeds high enough to deflect bullets. The Top also has a penchant for using gimmicky toy tops armed with glue, gas, and who knows what else. Later in his career and after years of spinning, the Top gained psychic abilities, including telepathy and telekinesis. No word yet on whether the Top will already have the mental abilities when she is introduced. Reports indicate that the Top will be working with Mirror Master in a possible Bonnie and Clyde relationship.
Joey King is expected to debut as Magenta in episode 3 of the upcoming season of The Flash, while Ashley Rickards is set to appear as the Top in episode 4.
Season 3 of The Flash premieres on October 3rd, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW.
