Steve Rogers No Longer “Captain America?”

Captain America No More

The final battle between Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Tony Stark (Iron Man) at the end of Captain America: Civil War was both epic and personal as the two went toe to toe over Bucky as well as their relationship over the past several films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The battle ended with Captain America defeating Iron Man but hesitating to deliver the death blow. Stark calling out to Captain America saying he didn’t deserve his shield and then Rogers acknowledging that fact and dropping the shield. We all know they’ll back for Avengers: Infinity War to take on Thanos and save the galaxy. But will “Captain America” be back?

He dropping the shield was sort of dropping the title of Captain America. When he rescued the #TeamCap Avengers, he did no without his trademark costume. The Russo Brothers while talking about the Civil War Blu-Ray/DVD release chimed in.

“I think him dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity. [It’s] him admitting that certainly, the identity of Captain America was in conflict with the very personal choice that he was making.” –Joe Russo

If he isn’t going to officially be “Captain America,” who will Steve Rogers be? Will he have a costume? Hopefully, he won’t have that “Nomad” costume he had for a short time.

Nomad

There are some speculating that he will have his “Commander Rogers” costume or even his US Agent costume. Surely his time in Wakanda could get him a new shield, he could probably get a new outfit as well. Either way, he will continue to do what he feels is right, if he has the Captain America title/uniform or not.
