Over the last few weeks, social media has been ablaze about problems behind the scenes of the 8th installment of the Fast & Furious franchise between actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel. The two superstars are reported to not be getting along while filming the latest film. Johnson first posted a cryptic message on social media talking about certain “Candy Asses” on set that doesn’t conduct themselves as professionals. After Internet sleuths went to work, it was confirmed that the person who he was referencing was co-star Vin Diesel. After it was outed that he was the culprit, Vin Diesel also took to social media and even made the statement that veteran actor Tommy Lee Jones was originally supposed to have the role of Hobbs and not Johnson. The rest of the cast has been mum when asked about the feud between the two. However, this “feud” might not have any legs.
A recent report is stating that the beef between the two might actually be genuine and be a part of a publicity stunt for the upcoming WWE WrestleMania event that will happen 12 days before Fast 8 hits theaters. According to an unnamed source:
“They are playing a huge prank, and it’s all for publicity,”
Johnson owes much of his success to his work as a professional wrestler in WWE before he became a mainstream actor and he occasionally still wrestles once a year for major promotional events for WWE. Why not kill two birds with one stone? What better way to further promote the upcoming film than on the biggest stage in professional wrestling? Johnson even using his signature catchphrase “Candy Ass” he used when he wrestled also provides a little bit of a clue that this is the direction the “feud” is taking. WWE matches are prearranged where they already know how the match will happen. So who would win in this upcoming match? Will they make Johnson the “Babyface” (good guy) or the Heel (bad guy) in this potential match between the two? After all, he started it!
