This year marks the 25th anniversary of the animated Beauty and the Beast, and while my heart can’t take the amount of joy at all the great set photos and trailers, Disney’s taking this opportunity to remind fans of what’s in store for the live-action Beauty and the Beast coming next year. The studio has just released a sneak peek at the new film, featuring stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens and director Bill Condon. Check it out!

The Live-Action Beauty and the Beast sneak peek is included in the bonus features for the animated Beauty and the Beast‘s upcoming 25th Anniversary re-release.

While many of you may notice that there isn’t a whole lot of new stuff to see in the Beauty and the Beast sneak peek: the shots of Beast’s castle are pretty, and that image of Lumière and Cogsworth; are all things that we and so many others have reported on. But it’s not so much what you see, but what you hear. The teaser gives us some new stuff to listen to. Fans get a chance to hear the character inflection and interaction between Belle and the Beast for the first time, via video from a table read. Not only that, but the music itself is something to be admired. As a fan of the film, there is a big difference between the orchestration from the animated film to the music that you hear underscoring the clips released so far, and it delightful, but also tender. I know it may seem like much but just take the time to listen to it. Like Star Wars is known for its score, Disney films are also known for theirs.

Now while Disney has  remade several of their animated classics into live action features such as: Alice in WonderlandSleeping Beauty(as Maleficent), Cinderella, and The Jungle BookBeauty and the Beast will be the first film from the 1990’s Disney Renaissance to get the live-action treatment. The new film certainly has big expectations from fans and the cinema industry to fulfill, as director Bill Condon states, “When something is so perfect why get near it? The technology has caught up with the ideas that were introduced in that movie.”

Beauty and the Beast (Live Action) arrives in theaters March 17, 2017. But you can catch up with the classic animated version before that with the Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary Edition hits Digital HD September 6 and Blu-ray September 20.
