Coming soon, the beginning of production on Avengers: Infinity War and its counterpart, the yet unnamed Avengers 4. It will be an arduous nine month shoot, and it will feature about a million different characters introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. A logistical nightmare to be sure, but Joe and Anthony Russo have already proven that they are up to the task thanks to this past summer’s Captain America: Civil War, and now we play the waiting game to learn more about the production. The following image is the first from behind the scenes of the next Avengers, and while it doesn’t reveal much, it does reveal that the film’s villain is already hard at work planning our heroes’ doom.
Posted to Facebook by the Russo Bros themselves is this image of them with none other than Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series of films. Thanos has long been waiting in the wings to finally get into the fight against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and now it looks like he’s ready for his close-up…
This does confirm one thing, that Thanos will be brought to life through motion capture and not traditional make-up effects, which is kind of sad that we won’t see Brolin in the purple-colored flesh. I guess wearing a purple colored unitard is a good back-up, albeit an unusual choice for a motion-capture suit, which is usually grey. Perhaps Brolin needs the purple to get into a proper frame of mind, all that anger and greed needed to go forth into the galaxy and collect the Infinity Gems at all cost. The last time we saw Thanos at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, he was going to “do it himself”, as in collect the Gems himself, and he didn’t seem happy to have to have to get off his floaty chair…
Avengers: Infinity War begins production soon with a release date of May 4, 2018.
