Over the next month, we will be hyped to the max in anticipation for the release of the next Marvel Studios movie, Doctor Strange, and because this is a Marvel movie, we know that this is only the beginning for big screen adventures involving the Sorcerer Supreme. There have been suggestions that Strange will appear in Thor: Ragnarok, but a lot of people are looking further a field to the next Avengers, Infinity War. We’ve been promised about 65 main characters in the film, and it’s presumed that Strange will be among them, and now Dr. Strange himself is confirming that he’ll be there for Infinity War, if they can get the timing right.
In a new Strange-related interview for Empire, Benedict Cumberbatch said that he will be there for Infinity War, but the “logistical challenge of aligning [my] schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany,” is difficult, he said. “To get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”
Name-dropping Chris Hemsworth is interesting, since set photos from Ragnarok recently revealed that the God of Thunder was on the streets of “New York” looking for the Sanctum Sanctorum. Honestly though, could we imagine an Infinity War without Dr. Strange? If you’re going into battle against the Mad Titan Thanos, wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet, then you’re going to want to bring your biggest guns. And not for nothing, but the original Infinity Gauntlet crossover in the 90s featured Dr. Strange in a very major capacity, so it would be a bit weird if he weren’t there. Infinity War is expected to begin shooting sometime later this fall.
Doctor Strange will be in theatres everywhere on November 4.
