When we last saw the crew of Voltron: Legendary Defender, not only had they just been beaten by Emperor Zarkon, but they had also been split up across different parts of the galaxy left to wonder if they’d ever see each other again. Of course, what kind of a show would it be if the paladins who controlled the mighty Voltron gave up after their first season? Obviously they’d eventually be reunited, but the question is what will their journey look like? Season one was released earlier this year in June, and with New York Comic Con this weekend, a new trailer has dropped for season two. So, if you’re ready, willing, and able, then check out the trailer for the next season after the jump.

Alright, here’s the thing that everyone is talking about:

If you’re watching this clip without having seen the first season, you might want to stop everything and go watch it. And if you’re worried that this cartoon will ruin the original from 1984, you need not worry. Not only does this version of Voltron maintain a similar level of action, but it also keeps on par with the level of story-telling, passion, and amount of work gone into making what made the original cartoon so great in the first place.

The second trailer does a great job of conveying that feeling of being lost and thrust into a hopeless situation within the first thirty seconds. And then at some point, they find their way back to each other. However, along the way, it looks like the audience is given a few glimpses into their travel back to each other. There are new worlds that will be discovered and new creatures they will come across.

At this year’s New York Comic Con, the first episode of the second season will be shown during Voltron’s own panel on Friday, October 7. Here are the details:

Catch the world premiere of an episode from the highly anticipated upcoming second season of DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender with executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos, co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery, story editor Tim Hedrick and voice actors Jeremy Shada and Bex Taylor-Klaus.  Together they’ll discuss what’s in store for Team Voltron and provide a glimpse inside what promises to be an epic second season, coming soon to Netflix. All panel attendees will receive an exclusive limited-edition Voltron poster.

Season two of Voltron: Legendary Defender debuts on Netflix later this year.
