Let’s talk about Wolverine 3, which is about six months away from being released but is still as mysterious as Loch Ness Monster. To recap what we think we know: the story may or may not be based on Mark Millar‘s Old Man Logan, the main villain may or may not be Mister Sinister, and along with this being Hugh Jackman‘s last movie as the titular mutant hero, it may or may not also be Patrick Stewart‘s last film as Professor X. What we need here is a bit of clarity. Maybe some kind of trailer… Hint, hint. Well, Jackman himself had something to say about that recently, and along the way he made a promise to fans as to what to expect with Wolverine 3.
“There’s going to be some stuff coming out in the next week or so,” Jackman told ET Online, though for obvious reasons he didn’t elaborate. “That’s all I’ll say. I’m not good. I’m the kind of person who tells everybody everything. Basically it’s going to be different. Very different in tone and hopefully to anything we’ve done.”
Jackman added that director James Mangold is currently “editing away” on the film, which is good to hear, but the really good news in this reveal that “some stuff” is “coming out in the next week”, which, to us, suggests that there will be some kind of teaser coming our soon. Perhaps this will give us some reliable bit of intel about what we can expect from the film. As for “tone”, we’ve heard reports that Wolverine 3 will be R-rated, which would be a real change in tone, and one that a lot people have wanted to see since Wolverine first went solo in 2009. Of course, the Wolverine series has already changed tone once, the second film changed tone from suckable to entertaining, so this won’t be the first shift in the series…
Wolverine 3 will be in theatres everywhere on March 3, 2017.
