According to a report coming out of BBC Cumbria, Cumbria Superheroes (a local costume shop located in the United Kingdom) has sent out someone to neighboring Whitehaven to wear the rubber suit in an effort to assure children that someone is watching over them. Here’s a video from the company’s Facebook page with a message to all the kids who have been affected by the clown sightings.
“It appears a superhero has swooped in, determined to help youngsters sleep easy tonight. Cumbria Superheroes, a costume company, has sent ‘Batman’ out and about on the town’s streets to fight off the evil clowns. The man behind it insists he is not a vigilante, but is hoping to give children some reassurance that they are safe.”
While the efforts of the costume shop are commendable, one thing that needs to be noticed is how incredible their costumes are. As of right now, Batman seems to be the only hero on the scene, but you never know if someone else will show up. Maybe Spider-Man? One thing is for sure, as far as security goes: London Police are taking the situation very seriously,
“We are currently assessing a small number of reported ‘Killer Clown’ incidents in London, three of which meet the threshold of a criminal offense. Our primary responsibility is identifying and investigating those incidents where a criminal offense has occurred. However, anti-social behavior can leave people feeling scared, anxious, and intimidated and I would urge those who are causing fear and alarm to carefully consider the impact their actions have on others.”
All you clowns beware, Batman is here to make sure the citizens of Whitehaven are safe and sound.
