With Supergirl coming to the CW and “sorta” being a part of the “Arrow-verse,” now a whole bunch of other DC characters can bleed over into the show. James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), Supergirl’s love interest (well not anymore) will soon be suiting up and taking the vigilante route as well.
James will suit up as Guardian. The famed DC comics character had no superpowers, but wielded an indestructible shield to fight crime with. Several people have assumed the role of Guardian throughout comics, including Jim Harper, Mal Duncan, and Jake Jordan. Now it looks like Guardian will have a new alter-ego: James Olsen. Producer Andrew Kreisberg talks about Brooks and expanding role as Guardian.
“These next few episodes are going to make him realize that being a photographer … is not enough for him. So he’s going to go on a pretty exciting career trajectory that we’re really pumped by. James is going to decide that he can no longer sit back and be a sidekick, so he’s going to decide to become a vigilante and he’s going to become Guardian – complete with the shield – which is going to cause a massive problem in his relationship with Kara, because he has decided not to tell her.”
In the meantime, here’s a first look at Guardian.
