Season one of Young Justice came out of the gates like a thoroughbred racehorse. It combined action and great storytelling with DC Universe super heroes that didn’t usually see the spotlight. Season two saw a drastic time jump in which the young heroes were now young adults. Again, the show was carried by an awesome story arc which lasted most of the season. It culminated to one of the biggest cliffhangers ever by a animated television series. And then there was silence. For three years, fans complained and made their thoughts known very clear and very loud – all to the point of literally begging the powers that be for a third season. Well, those of you who have been groveling for something to happen can finally pick your faces up off the ground. Season three of Young Justice has been announced, and it’s all thanks to you.
Earlier today, Warner Bros. Animation announced that production for season three of Young Justice had already begun. The show has already promised, “new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes.” Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series said in a statement, “The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us. We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
To make things even better, Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman: Doomsday) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels, Gargoyles) will be returning to produce the show. In a statement to Comicbook.com, Vietti relayed this message to all the fans that showed their continued support for the series even while it was off the air and helped revive it,
“I just want to pass along a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all the fans that supported Young Justice and never gave up hope. I am truly amazed and grateful that so many of our fans all over the world were able to come together and make their voices heard. Young Justiceseason 3 is happening because of them!”
Weisman also chimed in on the news and said,
As of right now, Warner Bros. Animation hasn’t set a date for the show’s return nor have they announced what network will carry it. Whoever gets the chance to show season three of Young Justice will have hit the jackpot of animated television shows. Let the bidding war begin!
