Telltale Games, the independent video game company that specializes in episodic games based on many popular licenses, is getting ready for yet another adventure. They rose to popularity with such titles as The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones, and most recently Batman where game players would go through various scenarios, making decisions along the way that would affect the outcome of the game. Most Telltale Games properties have a signature look graphics-wise that helped for branding purposes and recent hits have helped the company exponentially explode in the video game market. Telltale has licensing deals with NBC Universal, Warner Bros Interactive, Sierra, HBO, and now has a new deal with Marvel.
Telltale games first game after their deal with Marvel will be a Guardians of the Galaxy video game based on the popular comic book and film franchise. The game is currently in development and expected to hit gaming consoles next year. There was a small delay in getting the game off the ground in part due to the SAG-AFTRA strike for video games.
The working title for the GOTG video game is Blue Harvest. If that name sounds familiar, it is because that was the working title for Star Wars (the OG Space Opera) back in 1977. While it doesn’t have anything to do with Star Wars, that film did heavily influence the Guardians of the Galaxy film, and it’s a nice nod to that film.
Guardians of the Galaxy is expected to be released next year I time for the second movie’s release. It is expected to be available for video game consoles PS3, PS4, X360 and Xbox One as well as mobile operating systems Android, iOS, Win, and OS X.
