If you grew up in the late 80s/early 90s, then chances are that DuckTales was a pretty big part of your life. The series launched in the fall of 1987 and was part of the Disney Afternoon line-up for years culminating in 100 episodes and a big screen adventure called DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. If you miss those golden days, or wish you could share them with the child in your life, there’s good news because Disney is bringing DuckTales back next summer in an all-new series on Disney XD, and below you can watch the very teasing teaser.
Like the previous series, this DuckTales will focus on Scrooge McDuck and his various adventures along with his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie as they search the globe for new treasures or try to protect Scrooge’s own fortune from usurpers like the Beagle Boys or Flintheart Glomgold. Along for the ride is Scrooge’s trusty (ish) pilot Launchpad McQuack, inventor Gyro Gearloose, butler Ducksworth and nanny Mrs. Beakley. The big difference between this and the previous DuckTales series seems to be that Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack, will have a bigger role on the show.
Entertainment Weekly was given a sneak peak at the show, which includes the trailer below and the image above. The series is being overseen by executive producer Matt Youngberg (Ben 10), story editor/co-producer Francisco Angones (Wander Over Yonder), and art director Sean Jimenez (Gravity Falls). The first season will have 21 half-hour episodes bookended by two one-hour specials. So get your swimming trunks ready, it’s almost time to dive back into our money pool and enjoy the avarice of being the richest duck in the world. Let’s roll the clip…
DuckTales premieres next summer on Disney XD.
