This seems to be the week for trailers, doesn’t it? We kicked off with The Mummy reboot, suffered through Transformers: The Last Knight, high-fived over the return of Spider-Man, and just this morning got chills over the The War of the Planet of the Apes. To wrap the week, or begin again next week, Universal Pictures is giving us a sneak peak of the Fast 8 trailer, which is now improbably titled The Fate of the Furious. That makes it sound like this is some kind of mystical kung-fu movie, but one look at the teaser posted below definitely says this action flick is a whole lot bigger and louder than that.
In The Fate of the Furious, a mysterious woman makes Dominic Toretto and offer he can’t refuse, and lures him and his ragtag crew of reformed criminals and government agents into their biggest globe-trotting adventure yet. Franchise stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Dwayne Johnson, re-unite with Furious 7 friends Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel and Kurt Russell, and are joined by Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood, and Helen Mirren.
F. Gary Gray steps behind the camera for James Wan, who lead the last Furious movie to its biggest haul ever, $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. Expectations are astronomic on this one, which is surprising for the eighth entry in a movie series, but the Fast and Furious brand has an incredible habit of beating all expectations. So having said all that, let’s check out the teaser for the trailer, which will debut in full this coming Sunday. Stay tuned!
The Fate of the Furious will be decided in a theatre near you on April 14, 2017.
