Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine for over 16 years now, with Logan being his eighth, and supposed final, time he puts on the claws. Jackman has said on multiple occasions that it’s been getting increasingly difficult to get into Wolverine shape, stating that Logan felt the perfect way to end his reign. So that’s that end of an era, right? Not if Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds gets his way.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds revealed his Make-a-Wish dream. That dream being for the Deadpool franchise to see a Wolverine/Deadpool team up. “I want Deapdool and Wolverine in a movie together,” he said. “What we’re gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I’m going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line.”
Here that Internet? Time to make a lot of noise and guilt trip Jackman into putting on those claws again.
We know Deadpool 2 will feature Cable and Domino. No reason to believe there’s no room for Jackman to make a cameo as Logan if he’s interested. But likely not. Jackman and Reynolds have a good friendship off-screen, but even with all their friendly banter, Jackman has made it clear that he’s ready to move on.
But who knows? If a Deadpool 3 happens, maybe that will be enough time for Jackman have an urge to play the character once again. And what a lovely, promising concept that would be. Picture it, a mutant buddy cop/odd couple with the two heroes constantly beating the shit out of each other. Glorious.
Logan opens in theatres everywhere in March.
