yamcha
Yamcha. Never has a name been so synonymous with epic failure than the name Yamcha. Some would even call him a gift from the gods to the internet. A quick search results in countless memes and Photoshop variations. The story of Yamcha is so legendary, a statue commemorating his death was even made. Who does that? But it looks like things may be taking a turn for him. Thanks to a new spin-off series, Yamcha will finally get to play the hero he’s always wanted to be.

In what has been titled, “Dragon Ball Side Story: The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha,” the story of a young student who is reincarnated as Yamcha is told. As the story goes, the student was a big Dragon Ball fan, and uses their knowledge to turn Yamcha’s failures into victories. At one point, during a sparring session, the new Yamcha is able to survive an attack which killed him in the original series.

The spin-off is currently out in Japan, but there are no plans, as of right now, to bring the series to English. Those of you who can read Japanese, however, can check out the first chapter on Shōnen Jump’s website. If you read the current series, then you may have noticed that Yamcha is blatantly absent. So if you’re in need of a way to feed your Yamcha urges, then here it is.
