This has been a tough year all around for celebrities. We’ve already lost many greats: Natalie Cole, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Vanity, George Martin, Frank Sinatra Jr., Garry Shandling, Patty Duke, Merle Haggard, Prince, Muhammed Ali, Anton Yelchin, Kenny Baker, Gene Wilder, and countless others. Yet another sweet soul has just left us: Actor Alan Thicke.

It has just been reported that Alan Thicke suffered a heart attack today after playing hockey with his younger son earlier today. After complications, he was transported to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. As an organ donor, Thicke’s organs will be donated to needy donors as he was a registered organ donor. Thicke is survived by his three sons Brennan, Carter, and Robin (the R&B singer).  He is also survived by his wife Tanya.

Thicke is most known for playing patriarch Jason Seaver on the 1980s sitcom Growing Pains. He recently appears on the Netflix sequel/reboot Fuller House. In addition to Growing Pains, Thicke was a talk show host, and wrote the theme songs for Diff’rent Strokes, Wheel of Fortune, The Facts of Life, and Growing Pains.

The actor passed away at 69. Rest in Peace.
