BREAKING: Star Wars Actress Carrie Fisher Suffers Major Heart Attack While On Plane – Condition Critical [UPDATE: Fishers Brother Responds]
Developing story today involving a major health scare for actress Carrie Fisher. TMZ learned that the actress, famed for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, suffered a major heart attack while on an airplane this morning.
Sources say Carrie was on a flight from London to LAX when she went into cardiac arrest. People on board were administering CPR.
TMZ reports the emergency occurred 15 minutes before the plane landed in L.A. A flight attendant asked if there were any medical personnel on board and an EMT who was sitting in the back of the plane came up to first class and administered life-saving measures.
The plane landed just after noon in L.A. and paramedics rushed her to a nearby hospital. She is believed to have been traveling with an assistant and her dog Gary Fisher. The dog is believed to have joined Fisher at the hospital, but that has not been confirmed.
At this time, there is no update on the status of Carrie Fisher’s wellbeing. She is said to be in critical condition. The actress is 60 years old. She just recently wrapped her fifth film as Princess Leia, co-starring in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Fisher has been spending the better part of the last few months in London, where she continued to promote her book. She was presumably traveling back home for the holidays.
We hope she is with the force and that the force is with her.
Todd Fisher, Carrie’s brother, has since shared the actor’s condition.
“There really is not much to say. She is in the intensive care unit, she is being well looked after. If everyone could just pray for her that would be good. The doctors are doing their thing and we don’t want to bug them. We are waiting by patiently.”
He also addressed an earlier comment attributed to him, in which he was alleged to have said his sister was in “stable condition.”
“I don’t know where they got that word from. That is absolutely not even close to the truth. We don’t know. We hope for the best. We certainly do not know her condition, that’s why she is in ICU. I’m sure everyone wants to speculate but now is not the time for that.”
