Remember that time when Jack Black starred in a King Kong movie and delivered the most poignant line in the entire movie? That was almost 12 years ago. And in Hollywood, that the amount of time needed for a reboot. Kong: Skull Island is another telling of an age-old classic about a giant ape and his girl. Of course, as of right now, it’s hard to tell if there will be any romance between the two, but the latest trailer from Japan does spill the beans on all the action. Check it out after the jump.
The movie stars Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson.
If this were a Marvel movie, it would be about Loki and Ms. Marvel teaming up to take down a mutant-sized ape. Instead it looks like it’s going to be about a girl who wants to take pictures and probably falls in love with her guide while trying to survive on the island. Oh, and Samuel L. Jackson comes along for the ride to yell about things and drop meme worthy catchphrases. The movie also starts John Goodman who looks like he’s playing a guy who’s seen a lot of crazy things in his life, but this one probably takes the cake.
As you can tell, the trailer doesn’t really show anything innovative or new. There are a lot of explosions and (what looks like) fun actions sequences to watch. If you’re a fan and want to see what the big guy looks like with updated technology, then by all means, have at it. Stick a couple of Transformers into the film, and you’d think it was directed by Michael Bay. It’s not though. It was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Kong: Skull Island hits theaters on March 10th, 2017.
