Rick Cosnett Confirms His Return To ‘The Flash’

Thanks to Flashpoint, anything can happen. No show is safe. No cast member, dead or alive is safe. As some of you may have seen from previews of Arrow, Laurel Lance has resurrected herself. And now it looks like another another deceased member of the CW/DC Universe is coming back from the dead, but in what capacity? Leave it to Rick Cosnett to say anything far from the truth with the answer. In fact, he was quite blunt when he Tweeted that he was coming back to The Flash. Will fans see Eddie Thawne stitched back together again thanks to Flashpoint? Or will this be some other version of Thawne from another Earth? It’s anyone’s guess.

In case you’re having any kind of difficulty believing this news, here’s the Tweet from Cosnett:

Now, that wasn’t hard to believe, was it? With that out of the way, its time to speculate. The most plausible version of Eddie Thawne to be making a come back is the Earth-1 version.  This is because there’s not other reason to believe that Thawne from another world has any reason to come to Earth-1. The question, now, is why hasn’t anyone brought him up? Maybe because this version of Thawne never became a cop? There could be any number of reasons. Whatever it is, it’s a result of the butterfly effect caused by Flashpoint.

By now, some of you may be sick of the whole concept, but the end result of the event is why it will be forever ingrained in your brain and comic book history. Of course, it’s very easy to make a joke out of the whole thing. If something explainable happens, just blame it on Flashpoint. Thought Sinbad was in a movie called Shazamm? Flashpoint. Thought it was Berenstein and not Berenstain? Flashpoint. In the end, it doesn’t matter how you feel about it. It happened, will happen, is happening, and it’s here to stay.

The Flash returns with new episodes Jan. 24 on The CW at 8 PM EST.
