Whether your were a fan of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad or not, a lot of people were hoping that 2017 might be a clean slate for Warner Bros., DC Entertainment and the DC Extended Universe. There are two new items up for bids this year – Wonder Woman and Justice League – and while the latter is still an artifact of Zack Snyder’s influence, the former’s got new blood in the form of Patty Jenkins, not to mention the fact that it features one of the more popular aspects of BvS: Gal Gadot‘s Amazonian warrior. And that’s why it’s so difficult to announce the following…

“It stinks.” That’s the early word from a supposedly inside source who told the Schmoes Know show. Now one random thing said by one random person to one random YouTube show is not a cause for panic, but according the Schmoes this comes from the same person that told them in advance that BvS was going to stink. Perhaps it’s a matter of personal taste, or perhaps this person has an axe to grind, but given what’s come before and the fact that Wonder Woman was in the can by the time BvS came out, the comment can’t be dismissed out of hand. Here’s the full text from Schmoes Know:

“So, I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus. We have somebody within our community who has gotten insider information that broke my effing heart this week, because I have tremendous belief that Wonder Woman is gonna be awesome and I heard it stinks from the same person who told me that they heard that BvS stinks…The person who I spoke to…their response was ‘I’m very disappointed in what I saw, and it seems like all the problems are the same problems. It’s discombobulated, it doesn’t have narrative flow. It’s just very disjointed.”

Of course, there’s still about five months before the release of Wonder Woman so anything can happen, but this is not the kind of news, or even tip, that fans want to hear right now. We want a real competition between comic book universes! We want kick @$$ Marvel films and amazing DC films that fans can love without reservation. We are all hoping that 2017 would be the year, but now we’re seeing some clouds far off into our sunny horizon, aren’t we? Stay tuned for further developments…

Wonder Woman is in theatres everywhere June 2.
