The first Logan trailer featured the Johnny Cash cover of “Hurt” and it immediately set a tone for the upcoming R-rated Wolverine movie, reported to be the last featuring Hugh Jackman in the title role. Well, just in time for Super Bowl LI, we get another very atmospheric look at Logan set to the tune of “Amazing Grace.” Based on the 30-seconds of footage we see in the ad, which aired during tonight’s big game, it’s the bad guys that are going to be looking for some “Amazing Grace” as they dare to cross the Wolverine one last time.
Coming out in less than a month now, Logan tells the story of Wolverine in a possible future where mutants are dying out and he and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) are all that remains of the X-Men. Into this dusty and sullen world comes a girl (Dafne Keen) who seems to have a lot of Logan’s traits – like a healing factor and metal claws – so the trio embark on a journey to find sanctuary, but are pursued in the attempt by the evil Transigen corporation and their hench-cyborg Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook).
Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez also star in the film directed by James Mangold, the man behind 2013’s The Wolverine. Logan will mark a record ninth time for Jackman to appear on film as his superhero character.
Logan will be in theatres everywhere on March 3.
