Details have begun to leak out of the production for the Guillermo Del Toro’s (Pan’s Labrinth, Hellboy, and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army) and Steven S. DeKnight’s (Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel) sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising and after getting an official photo just yesterday, a new image has been released this morning! Pictured in the photo are not one, not two, but three new Jaegers we can expect to see duking it out with Kaiju on the big screen. The sequel to Pacific Rim has been in the works since the first film came out in 2013 and even though details are scarce, these small teaser photos are making fans anxious!
When it comes to details about the story, very little is known at this point. We can infer from the pictures that the sequel will continue with what works: giant robots kicking the crap out of giant monsters! Of course, it’s not going to be that simple and we really hope it won’t at that. The film stars John Boyega (Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Attack the Block, and Junkhearts) who was kind enough to leak the following picture just yesterday:
We do know that Boyega will play the son if Idris Elba’s (Thor, Zootopia, and Prometheus) character in the film and will clearly be a Jaeger pilot, but there isn’t much known beyond that. If those pics weren’t enough to ramp up excitement for the upcoming film, here are a few production stills taken of Boyega wearing what looks like Jaeger pilot gear:
Unfortunately, that’s about all we know at this point. Be sure to check back in with NerdBastards.com for updates on the production of Pacific Rim: Uprising and all your nerdly news!
