Yesterday production began for Jurassic World 2. The sequel to the 2015 nostalgia-fueled megahit/remake/sequel of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World is about to once again resurrect dinosaurs. Returning for the sequel will be Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong (rumored) for the further adventures of those characters. Newcomers for the upcoming sequel include Toby Jones and Justice Smith (Netflix’s The Get Down). Today a new member has been added to the cast.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that veteran James Cromwell will be joining the cast in an unspecified role. With more than 50 years’ experience, Cromwell has an extensive resume. The Emmy and Oscar nominated actor has appeared in such classic films as Babe, Star Trek: First Contact, American Horror Story: Asylum, Halt and Catch Fire, Spider-Man 3, LA Confidential, The Green Mile, Six Feet Under, and countless others.
While not much is known about the plot, it is said to be darker than the previous film, meaning more bodies. It is also said to explore the rights of dinosaurs in a Black Fin kind of way. A few domain names have already been registered in connection to the movie (IslaNubarRescueMission.com, AllCreaturesHaveRights.com, and AllCreaturesHaveRights.org). Although we don’t know who Cromwell will be in the film, he does have a “John Hammond” type of vibe in most of his films. He could play another ruthless executive, or even an animal rights activist in the film as well. Regardless of who he will play in the film, he’s bound to be a fine addition to the movie.
