A lot of actors from Game of Thrones have been cast in other things lately (Emilia Clarke in the Han Solo movie, Maisie Williams in iBoy), and it leads many to wonder whether these are early signs of deaths in the season to come. The latest Game of Thrones cast member to score work outside of Westeros is Alfie Allen, aka Theon Greyjoy. He’s just been cast in the new Predator movie to be directed by Shane Black.
The casting news was released just days after the first cast photo of Predator was posted on Twitter by Shane Black in an announcement for the first day of shooting. Allen isn’t in the photo, so obviously they are still casting and announcing new cast members are they come.
Other stars of the film include Olivia Munn as some kind of scientist, Boyd Holbrook and Trevante Rhodes as ex marines, and Sterling K. Brown as a government agent. Alfie Allen has also been cast as an ex marine. Maybe Allen will finally break out of his stereotype role of playing the “jerk”. Time will tell.
The plot is being kept under wraps so we really don’t know too much about what is going to happen. Shane Black has said that the film will be “bigger” than the past predator films, which have tended to be small with a contained cast. This will be much more of an event film, so Predators trying to take over the world? With Shane Black directing, it’s sure to be good.
Shooting began earlier this week and Predator is scheduled to be released on February 9, 2018.
