Batman. It’s always been about Batman. But what about everyone else? Like Robin. Fans have been dying to see Robin come back to life on the big screen. The closest fans got to the real deal was in Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. It was a “fun” Easter Egg at the end of the movie, but it wasn’t the real thing. However, the wait may finally be over. Alright, it may not be Robin, but it comes in the next best form of Nightwing. And it may be coming soon to a theater near you.

According to the report, the fancy suits over at Warner Bros. are planning on a live-action Nightwing movie with Chris McKay taking the lead as director. McKay’s name may sound familiar because he recently made his feature-film directorial debut with The Lego Batman Movie. He also served as Co-Animation Director on The Lego Movie and has also directed three seasons of Robot Chicken.

While Nightwing has yet to make an appearance in the DCEU, the plan is to bring him into the fold with this movie. So you could be seeing Nightwing, Batman and the rest of the Justice League on the big screen some time in the future. It’ll be interesting to see how Warner Bros. plans on telling the story of Nightwing. Now, for those of you who don’t know, Nightwing’s real name is Dick Grayson. Also known as the original Robin, Grayson was a member of the Flying Graysons – a family of circus acrobats. After his parents are tragically killed, Bruce takes him in having felt the same way when he lost his parents. Dick Grayson would eventually train under Bruce becoming Robin and then eventually grow up into Nightwing.

An origin story would probably be best in this situation. After becoming Nightwing, Bruce would take on other sidekicks to carry the mantle of Robin. One of the most famous ones being Jason Todd who was killed by The Joker. In Batman V. Superman, audiences caught a glimpse of a Robin suit full of graffiti. It’s assumed that Bruce had already been dealing with the death of Robin, but it’s never confirmed which version of Robin is in the movie. With this Nightwing movie coming out eventually, it’s probably now safe to assume it is Jason Todd.

No date has been set for the release of Nightwing.
