It’s been nearly a decade sine the last time we got to see Indiana Jones swinging through the jungle in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but the wait for another installment is… well, it’s shorter now because the next film in the series has been greenlit for 2019! Not only will the franchise be returning, but so will director Stephen Spielberg and Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford.
There is not a lot of information coming out of Disney, but they did release a statement to the following:
Indiana Jones will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series. Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.
And that’s all we know right now. There is no title or plot that has been released and no word if we will see a return of Shia LaBeouf as his illegitimate son. Fans weren’t too enthusiastic about the last film so hopes are high for a redemption from the creators who have previously given us three incredible films in the series. It isn’t difficult to find people online who didn’t care for the fourth installment, but it scored a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes and made a little under $800 million at the global box office so it isn’t surprising to see the old team back at it for the fifth film.
Disney should release more information as the project moves forward so keep an eye on NerdBastards.com for all of your nerd news and any information on the forthcoming fifth Indiana Jones flick!
