Trailer for ‘Flash’/’Supergirl’ Musical Crossover Promises Light-Hearted Frivolity with a Chance of Doom
When two of your superhero leads have natural chemistry and a background in musical television, then you’ve got to take advantage, right? Especially when you’ve got a villain named the Music Meister waiting in the wings. So now the moment has come for the Flash and Supergirl to show off their musical chops, or rather their alter egos Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist, as it’s exactly one week till the hotly anticipated musical episode of The Flash called “Duet.” And behold: we now have a new trailer for the episode, which strongly implies that Barry and Kara are going to have to sing, or die!
And you though American Idol was rough. Yes, the Music Meister will put the heroes through their paces in next week’s episode of The Flash. The villain, played by Darren Criss, will be introduced in next Monday’s episode of Supergirl, but if you want all the singing and dancing, it’s The Flash you’ll have to tune into on Tuesday. Along with Gustin, Benoist, and Criss, who are all alums of the musical series Glee, the episode will also show off the musical talents of Jesse L. Martin (Joe West from The Flash), Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm from Legends of Tomorrow), and John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow).
So shall we take a look?
DARREN CRISS (“GLEE”) GUEST STARS AS THE MUSIC MEISTER IN THE FLASH AND SUPERGIRL MUSICAL CROSSOVER – Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon- El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her. However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.
Supergirl airs Mondays at 8pm, and The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on the CW.
