We’re just over a month away from the “final” Pirates of the Caribbean movie, or at least that’s what we’re told it’s going to be. Many fans are still speculative that this film is actually a set up for a future franchise, although Disney has not yet confirmed this. They may be keeping that possibility open, depending on how well this film does. This trailer is similar to the last one that was released and doesn’t give us much new information. Disney seems to be keeping a lot of the plot secretive. Why? Either it’s not good and they’re trying to hide it or it is good and they don’t want to ruin it. Remain speculative.
The new bits of this trailer don’t give us much. We learn that pirates don’t need pants and that Karina is a girl of science who doesn’t believe in ghosts, which echoes sentiments from Elizabeth Swan in the first film (You best start believin’ in ghost stories, Ms. Turner. You’re in one!). In many ways, this film seems to be bringing things full circle and tying up loose ends and that’s something to be excited about. Fans will finally get a Jack Sparrow origin story of sorts, a look at young Jack at least. Maybe how he found his compass. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan are both set to have at least small roles in the film, a sigh of relief for fans. They were very much missed in the last installment. And the film revolves around ghosts instead of fish people.

This trailer really focuses on the new cast, Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario, trying to emphasize their roles in the film. They are the new generation. The new Will and Elizabeth. Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley have remained mostly absent from the trailers, so either their parts are small or their roles are being kept secret until the actual film. Geoffrey Rush is back as Captain Barbosa, and Javier Bardem plays the main villain Captain Salazar.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
