He’s played a security guard, Hugh Hefner, a general, a bus passenger, a strip club DJ, a librarian, a mailman, a truck driver, a Fed EX delivery driver, another security guard, a beauty contest judge, a Doubting Thomas, a bartender, a patient in a mental hospital, an honoured police officer, Larry King, a guy who drank the wrong soda, a stranger on a train, and a World War II vet (among other). Stan Lee has had a wide variety of cameos in Marvel movies and TV shows, so would it be so surprising if he were to appear in Avengers: Infinity War?
Of course not! And now this was captured behind the scenes on the set via Instagram:
You can count on one hand the number of Marvel projects that have not featured Lee in some small way, so it should come as no surprise that Lee would turn up in Infinity War. Even at the age of 94, Lee is still keeping up with a hectic schedule of appearances, but as we reported last fall, Marvel’s trying to not over tax Lee too much and have filmed multiple cameos in advanced for him. This was confirmed again this weekend by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. “Most recently, [Lee] flew to Atlanta and shot four cameos in one day for upcoming projects, one of which I think is maybe the best one we’ve ever done. It’s a high bar for Stan,” he told Leonard Maltin in the Maltin on Movies podcast.
So was Lee just visiting the Avengers set, or was he shooting an Avengers specific cameo? (Keep in mind, that Black Panther is presently shooting too.) Perhaps there’s now even eight Stan Lee cameos in the can for distribution through Phase 4. I guess we’ll see…
Avengers: Infinity War will be in theatres everywhere on May 4, 2018.
